Let's Talk Life - Dreams

Every great dream begins with a dreamer.

As a child we dream of fancy worlds, mystical things and a life that is out of this world but with time the meaning of dreams start tilting towards reality. Nobody said that reality can’t be mystifying. The first glow of a light bulb or the first flight in an aircraft was as extraordinary as probably the Hogwarts castle. For dreamers, imagination is the only limit and when we believe in our dreams, we turn them into reality.

In this interview, we are going to talk about dreams and their importance with a very good friend of mine, Manveer Bajwara. She is a dreamer too who is currently working as a retail specialist. She thoroughly enjoys discovering new dream worlds through books and also loves the adventure of travelling. Today we will look at her perspective about dreams and on the way we will also try to understand what dreams are truly all about.

Dreams with Manveer interview

Welcome and our topic is 'Dreams'. With that, my first question is that what are the first three words that come to your mind when you hear the word 'Dreams'?

Thank You! I would say it is a very interesting topic. Well, the three words that just came to my mind are: Love, Meaning and Accomplishment.

It's my pleasure and I'm glad you like the topic. I must say that the choice of words is very interesting and quite understandable as well.
We live in a modern world which has opened up vast opportunities in various fields and this has allowed us to think about things that are not conventional. So, if you were to explain the significance of dreams then how would you do that?

Well, I think dreams are highly personal and one can dream about anything they want to. It is through dreams only that the opportunities beyond our vision can be found. When we dream of something, we shift to a different space where we can actually feel our true selves.

Personally, for me, my dreams are something that has helped me in staying motivated, loving life more than normal and being proud of my choices.

That is a very relatable and good description of dreams and especially the part about feeling our true selves clearly speaks a lot about how essential dreams are. Dreams do give us a goal, a focus point that we want to achieve while also enjoying the process.

So, like we all know that nowadays life is very fast paced and a lot of stuff is going around us. We have tasks and responsibilities apart from our own dreams that we have to attend to.
Sometimes, we get so lost in our dreams that we lose track of the life around us so how do you think we can balance out dreams and reality?

In my opinion, we can balance out dreams and reality but it can be quite challenging at times. We need to find that balance on our own. No doubt, dreams are highly significant but we can never run from the tasks and responsibilities related to our normal life. However, the process of maintaining that balance can be different for every individual depending in their circumstances.

I absolutely agree with you. Balancing out dreams and reality can really be challenging at times. Also, there are times when following our dreams or the road that leads to it is very challenging. We have to face some hard times and we lose motivation sometimes even though we want to continue. So, what should we do in such moments of doubt?

That happens to every individual at some point of time. Having doubts about following the path leading to our dreams is quite normal. Reminding yourself why you had that dream initially and how long you’ve come in the process can possibly serve as a motivation to remain on the same path, leading to the realization of our dreams. Also, thinking about how proud you will be of yourself when you’ll finally achieve the results can be very encouraging.

Thinking about the past when we made the decision to follow the dream and also about the future, when we'll realize the dream helps our efforts in the present time. I will certainly try this out myself as well and I'm quite sure that this will surely work.

Now, although the society has been quite acceptable of various dreams but even now there is some amount of uncertainty. There are sections that are critical of people who dare to dream and try to pull them down. Society is also not acceptable of all kinds of dreams. So, do you think it is very important for the society to encourage all kinds of dreams and if yes then why?

I definitely support the idea of encouraging all kinds of dreams. As we discussed earlier, dreams are significant to connect with our true selves. Discouraging certain kinds of dreams can curb the urge to live a creative and purposeful life in some individuals. Also, exploring new areas will result in wider options and acceptance for people. No one should be in control of how others are supposed to lead their lives.

Those are very noble thoughts by you. Hopefully we will be able to spread this kind of mindset among the society and make it better.
At early age, as kids we see a lot of dreams but as we grow up we start realizing what actually our true calling is. Some people realize it early than others but others require time but sometimes this wait of realizing our dream is very frustrating. So, why do you think this time in between and before the realization is important? No matter if it takes long, why we must wait and not lose hope or give up on finding our ideal dream?

That’s a really interesting question. I have personally experienced this. I am still trying to figure out what my ideal dream is. I do think the time in between and before the realization is really important. It is during this time that one gets the opportunity to try different possibilities and learn more about oneself. The wait can be frustrating but is also exciting at the same time. Finding new things about ourselves in this process is quite interesting.

Our ideal dream adds meaning to the life. You receive a path to follow and giving your everything to achieve it  and it feels so fulfilling. Also, it’s already hidden somewhere in you. You just have to wait for the right time to naturally become aware of it.

That's a very good answer. I could really relate to everything you said and also it is motivating in a way.
Now, if you were given this super power to pick a dream for the world. Like a dream that would come true, what would it be?

I believe that peace can be something that everyone can dream of at a global level. More love and acceptance of different ideas should be there. Understanding others at an individual level should be prioritized against every other parameter. We need to join hands in order to make this dream a reality.

That is very nice of you. World peace has indeed been the dream of various leaders of the world and I hope someday we can actually achieve that
Now the last question. How would you sum up this topic and interview in one sentence?

To sum up, I’ll only say: Dare to Dream.

Well said. That'd be all for the interview. Thank you very much. It was a very good and very positive interview and I really enjoyed it. I learnt a lot as well and this has really made me consider my dreams even more precious and love them even more. I hope all the readers feel the same.

Dare to dream. Love your dreams. Live your dreams.
